Hello x Kitty x Starface
My Role: Social Media
For this playful concept for a campaign, I worked on ad assets and visuals for a collaboration between Starface and Sanrio’s Hello Kitty, aimed at transforming everyday skincare into a joyful, collectible experience. This campaign had a short timeline, requiring quick turnaround and creative efficiency.
I developed creative directions centered on various fun themes that both encapsulated Sanrio’s and Starface’s brand.
The campaign leans into kawaii aesthetics and social-native language to appeal to Gen Z and younger millennial audiences. I designed engaging digital content using both original Starface brand elements and custom-styled assets for the collab.
This project explores how visual tone and copy can work together to build brand excitement and turn functional skincare into something shareable, joyful, and irresistibly cute.
This section showcases the visual foundation for the Hello Kitty × Starface concept campaign. I began with my own inspiration board that pulled from both brands' existing identities—highlighting Hello Kitty’s iconic, nostalgic charm and Starface’s bold, Gen Z-focused design language.
Alongside the provided brand assets (icons, imagery, packaging references), I collaborated on some illustrations to expand the visual system. While not all were used in the final mockups, these illustrations are adaptable for future use—seasonal releases, limited drops, or bonus sticker sheets.
To maintain cohesion with Starface’s real-world presence, I referenced:
Color palettes directly from both brands’ social channels
Typography used in Starface’s Instagram and site (bold, bubbly fonts with high readability)
The CTA button style from the Starface website, repurposed for social callouts and story overlays
Inspo Board
Assets for collab and general branding
”say hello to ur cutest skincare upgrade”:
I designed this direction specifically for Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook, focusing on both posts and stories to maximize visibility and shareability. The copy acts as a friendly, scroll-stopping intro while also setting the tone for the collaboration: joyful, collectible, and skin-positive.
I explored several layout variations that tested:
Tagline treatments in bold, bubbly type
CTA options
Strategic logo placement for Starface × Hello Kitty lockups
Character-led compositions for stories, highlighting key product features
“hello kitty just dropped in
to clear things up”:
This concept combines playful wordplay with visual motion to announce the collection in a fun, dynamic way. The phrase “Hello Kitty just dropped in to clear things up” nods to both clear skin and the official launch of the collection—while tying in the visual metaphor of Hello Kitty and product elements falling gently from the clouds.
I leaned into a dreamy, floaty aesthetic using:
Cloud icons to create the feeling of descending from above
Floating product shots that feel light and tactile, like they’re drifting into frame
A layout that creates visual motion—perfect for stories and animated posts
Airdrop:
This concept plays on the idea of Starface “airdropping” the collection directly to consumers, leaning into Gen Z focused design and Starface’s playful, digital-native brand identity.
The visual and verbal language is inspired by iPhone-style AirDrop pop-ups, digital alerts, and floating UI—tapping into the instant gratification and surprise-and-delight moments that resonate with a younger audience.
To support this, I incorporated:
Floating cloud elements to visually reinforce the “air” in “Airdrop”
UI-inspired layouts mimicking device notifications or transfer pop-ups
Social-first formats optimized for stories, carousels, and short-form video. The format also plays as a good template for other products or posts.
